Bushwalking with Kids {Fairy Doors}

We had such a fantastic time over Easter, camping and hiking with the Loving Naturally family that Numnut and I decided we need to go back to the way we used to be and prioritise getting out to nature as a family every week.

With this in mind, Numnut decided to surprise me with a family walk for Mother's Day. He made it extra special by cutting me out some gorgeous little fairy doors which Squiggles and Bubbles then decorated.

We took the fairy doors to one of our favourite walking tracks and with the help of our little fairies we hid them as we walked along the track. It was so much fun seeing the girls' excitement. We make it a point not to teach our children about mythical creatures such as Santa, the Easter Bunny, Fairies etc so I always love that they can still have fun pretending.

The girls ran along the track, flying, and hiding their precious doors. Sprinkling them (or drowning them!) in "fairy dust" before running to find the next perfect hiding spot.

We were lucky enough to bump in to some friends who were also out for a Mother's Day walk and Squiggles and Bubbles delighted in helping their friend to find the doors and then inviting him to join with them in their magical fun.

Once the girls ran out of doors I surprised them with some mini bamboo plates which they then filled with "nature fairy food" (Bubbles' words) and hid along the track for the fairies.

Finally we pulled out some bubble wands and the girls had a ball waving their wands as we finished our walk.

I think it was the best Mother's Day outing I've had.
